The BHIM Application, which has been named after Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, is a significant push towards the Digital India. Capable of facilitating digital transactions, it supports the cashless economy towards which India is heading nowadays, and allows people to pay for the products and services with great ease.

Earlier people were required to use debit cards or credit cards to make the payment, but BHIM app is aimed at making the e-transactions easier for the people. Developed by the NPCI (National Payment Corporation of India) BHIM allows you to pay money using your mobile phone and is interoperable with the bank account.

What is BHIM Application?

BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) is a digital payment solution app is available for download on the Android devices. It is based on UPI (Unified Payments Interface) and allows anyone to shop online, pay through his/her bank account, or transact money with just a click on their mobile phones. All you need to do is start the BHIM app download on your Android mobile phone, and link your bank account to it. So, now I would be like carrying your bank account in your pocket.

You can send money, receive money, pay online and carry out a wide variety of online transactions with great ease. As the BHIM app combines your bank account, your mobile number and your Adhar card, anyone can perform a cashless transaction anywhere.

How Does the BHIM Application work?

After you have downloaded the app, you simply need to choose one of your preferred bank account numbers. As soon as you register your mobile number with your app, you will get an SMS on the same number. As, a unqiue combination of account number and mobile number is required, it’s always  a good idea to use the same mobile number that has been registered with your bank account.

Once you have registered a mobile number, the app will ask you to set a 4-digit passcode for the app, like you have the pin number for your debit or credit card. After this, you would be prompted to provide the bank account number. If its UPI activated, you can easily register it, else you would be required to the six digits of your debit card number along with its expiry date in order to be able to use the BHIM app Android version. There is a long list of banks which support BHIM app and it includes over 30banks operating in India.
